SHEA HEIGHT Getting into the FUTURE

Newfoundland and Labrador
The Million Dollar Project partners NewTel Communications, the Fry Foundation, IBM, Knowledge House,
the Department of Education, the Avalon East School Board and others with an inner city school in the
Shea Heights community of St. John's, Newfoundland, to develop and build a Model Technology School
Community. Under this project, over one hundred 486-class computers will be placed in the homes of
students who attend St. John Bosco School. Computers will be connected to the school server, enabling
parents and students access to school information, and allowing parents to monitor students' progress.

The Beginning

I was born in 1971....I am froma family of 7 kids and my MOM and DAD. Growing up on Shea Heights taught me about the world. We had loyaltys and we had enemies two things that are constant in life. However we lived in this BUBBLE in our youth it was a community inside ST johns a city with 2000,000 population but it was on a high hill overlooking the city on one side and the Atlantic on the other side. We did not mix with the city and the city did not mix with us . This gave us a shangri-la in NFLD....some people may argue that its the worst place to grow up but all my memories even bad ones now seem greater and more significant. I dont know if it is the getting older , or wiser part that lets me see my youth in this light but whatever the reason some days I would give anything for just one more day in my youth..........

Everyone who reads this please add your place of youth and a personal photo and I bet we will all see that it is life that seperates us not youth because in our youth all of our stories except the places will sound the same....... keep smiling, loving, laughting and crying because when we stop these things it will all be over and we will be forgotten.
